Code of Conduct
Careers Week is our annual online conference and it runs entirely on Discord. This code applies to everyone who joins - attendees, exhibitors and speakers. By taking part in the event, you agree to follow it. We reserve the right to remove anyone who doesn't.
For Attendees
- Be respectful in all interactions, including in chat, voice, and DMs.
- Harassment, hate speech, and discrimination of any kind aren't tolerated. This includes anything based on race, gender, sexuality, disability, religion, or appearance.
- Don't record, screenshot, or share sessions, materials, or other attendees without explicit permission.
- Use designated channels for questions and discussion. Don't derail or spam.
- Follow Discord's terms of service and community guidelines at all times.
For Exhibitors and Studios
- Represent your studio, your work, and any roles you're hiring for honestly. No misleading job adverts or unpaid roles framed as paid opportunities.
- Respect attendees' time. No high-pressure pitches, no aggressive recruiting.
- Solicit responsibly. Don't DM attendees unsolicited unless they've engaged with you first.
- Honour your commitments - turn up to scheduled sessions and follow through on anything you promise during the event.
- Don't break NDAs. Only share information about your projects, your studio, or partner studios that you're permitted to share.
- You're welcome to promote your studio, your projects, and any roles you're hiring for - that's what you're here to do.
- You're welcome to record your own session and share it individually afterwards. Please don't record other speakers' or exhibitors' sessions without their permission.
- You're representing your studio publicly. Behave accordingly.
For Speakers
- Stay on topic and within your booked time slot. Other people are waiting.
- Be honest about your experience, your studio, and anything you're advising on.
- You're welcome to promote your work, studio, or projects as you'd like during your slot.
- Treat questions respectfully, even ones you disagree with or find naive.
- Don't break NDAs. Don't share anything confidential or sensitive - yours, your employer's, or anyone else's.
Reporting concerns
If anyone's behaviour at Careers Week makes you uncomfortable, please reach out to a moderator in the Discord, or email us at enquiries@snappygurus.com.
Reports are taken seriously and stay confidential to the moderation team. We will act on them.
Liability
Careers Week runs on Discord, a third-party platform. We aren't responsible for Discord's availability, terms of service, or any data they collect from you. By participating you agree to Discord's terms in addition to this code.
Views, opinions, advice, and job offers shared by speakers, exhibitors or other attendees are their own. They do not represent Snappy Gurus.
We moderate visible channels and respond to reports, but we can't guarantee anyone's behaviour or vet every conversation, particularly in DMs.
Snappy Gurus accepts no liability for outcomes of interactions, applications, advice, or commercial discussions that take place during or as a result of Careers Week. Decisions you make based on anything you hear or see at the event are your own.
